I am a professional artist/maker and lecture in Stitched Textiles, Art and Design and Stained Glass for Adults taking City & Guilds at levels 1- 4.
My work is continually experimenting with and extending the concept of textile art and is influenced by my fathers' nursery and the plants and flowers grown there. Some work carries copies of the diary my father kept as an apprentice gardener in 1922.
Photo transfers and drawn figures feature on canvases that are stitched and then painted with additional wire, plastic, semi precious stones and wood embellishments
I am interested in producing work for garden, conservatory, bathroom or greenhouse situations, presenting the problem of 'materials' that can be used in a damp environment.
Glass and plastic are proving interesting and colourful fabric substitutes.
This is an ongoing investigation which brings full circle the reflection of both mine and my fathers' love for the outdoors.
